Little Monkey and the Cave...

One day, quite a while ago, or not so very long, Little Monkey was feeling sad… it seemed he had no friends. The big island where he lived did not seem big enough. He wanted to get away… he felt so different from everyone he knew… as though he really didn’t belong here. Other monkeys laughed at him and called him names. He didn’t understand. What was wrong with him? Little Monkey was very confused.
He went and hid in his favourite cave, where he often went to escape from the other monkeys. It was a long way from the noise and chatter of the monkey tribe. He felt very alone but in the cave he could think a little clearer. The cave was small and cosy and here he could chat freely with his magical friend Bluey the Butterfly. Bluey was usually invisible, (unless Little Monkey invited others to see it!), but, if the other monkeys heard him, they laughed thinking he was talking to himself!
Bluey loved the cave too for all around the mouth of the cave were beautiful flowers. The butterfly liked to gather the pollen to eat. Nearby, the banana trees next to the stream, provided the Little Monkey with lots of bananas!
Bluey showed the Little Monkey wild herbs and flowers and taught him many things about them: What they were good for, which ones you could eat and which ones helped bruises and things like that.
But today Little Monkey was feeling so upset and so alone, so they sat at the entrance to the cave and Bluey danced the magic dance on Little Monkey...
Bluey landed on Little Monkey’s head, right at the top and fluttered its wings a few times. Then down between his eyebrows and along one… following the bony ridge around the eye ... to the side and underneath… Little Monkey started to feel a bit more relaxed and closed his eyes... Bluey then flew under his nose, then to his chin.
… Then Bluey’s favourite bit … going down to Little Monkey’s chest and jumping up and down! (Making the shape of a butterfly!). Today it flew and crawled in the small space under Little Monkey’s arm to the place Little Monkey liked to scratch … because he was feeling extra bad that day.
Then fluttering to the inside of Little Monkey’s wrist, and jumping and dancing from thumbtip to all the fingertips, Bluey kept singing the magic song... and then while fluttering down the side of his hand, Bluey asked if he was feeling any better yet… Little Monkey was … he had been dreaming of playing with lots of friends who really liked him and he felt happy and safe …playing lots of games and swinging through the trees!
Bluey told him to feel that happy feeling in every part of his body from his head to his toes… and make it so strong and bright … then he could send that happy feeling out to the whole world…and even to the stars... just in case there was anyone else feeling down that day!
